Hello Fedora

Wow, it’s been a while since I used this.

Yesterday, I installed Fedora over the Mandriva on my EEEPC. Mandriva was nice, and it worked well, but I’ve just been itching to try out other distributions for a while now. I want to gain experience and stuff.

Fedora installed pretty easily. The software update took forever, but pretty much everything seemed to work right away, including wireless. I had to add the evil non-free codecs myself, but that went smoothly. I don’t know why, but package management via the command line seems to work much faster in Fedora.

I’m currently using GNOME, but I’m installing Xfce as I write this, just to see if it’s any faster. GNOME is working at a reasonable speed most of the time.

Today I got an email from Mandriva offering me a discount on their Powerpack edition, and I felt a little bad, like I was cheating on them.
